Guidance Lessons
Each month I have the opportunity to visit with each classrooms to teach students interpersonal and intra-personal skills. These lessons are designed to help students become successful at school and in life. Guidance lessons will covers topics that promote self esteem, goal setting, problem solving skills, character education, personal safety, and bullying prevention. I will incorporate books, videos, games, group discussions and role playing to guide each lesson.
Small Group Counseling
Small group counseling will meet once a week over the course of six to eight weeks in the fall and spring. Groups are designed to offer students the opportunity to develop goals and to teach specific skills on how to obtain the goals set. Teachers and parents are welcome to nominate students who they feel would enjoy the group's discussions and would benefit from the material presented. Students must have parental permission before attending any small counseling group. |
Individual Counseling
Individual counseling is offered on an as needed basis. Referrals for individuals may be made by staff, parents, or students themselves. The school counselor will meet with the student to understand their needs, provide support, and offer constructive suggestions. The school counselor can provide parents with information for referrals to counselors and/or therapists in the community if needed. |
